The collection is inspired by the rich cultural tapestry of Vietnam, delving into its artistic evolution from historical roots to contemporary expressions. Embracing traditional and modern art forms, as well as the iconic ao dai costume, the focus extends to specific crafts such as lantern-making and ceramics. The goal is to encapsulate the serene essence of Vietnamese culture, emphasizing relaxation.

Drawing from the country's artistic heritage, the color palette leans towards soothing Pantone shades. Fabric choices prioritize soft materials, and the incorporation of natural dyes enhances the collection's connection to nature. This blend creates a harmonious fusion of traditional aesthetics with modern sensibilities.

A unique aspect of the collection involves translating these traditional art forms into modern ready-to-wear garments. This juxtaposition of the old and the new adds an intriguing dimension, offering a fresh perspective on Vietnamese cultural elements within the realm of contemporary fashion.

This is a lotus flower image I found online, inspired by my research, and I want to use it to develop prints for the collection.

this is some of the process in my research book and how i develop design though the initial collage work into experiment and fully developed out the design

I use a variety of materials to create visual representations, helping me develop a clearer idea for the design, purely based on my initial concept.

I also experiment through drawing, and this is a great example of me using color blocking—selecting colors and placing them randomly on the design to explore how they interact and feel.

Research Process

Natural Fabric Dye
IMG_6412[1].PNG

This is my first time dyeing fabric with natural ingredients, specifically beetroot. To better understand the process, I sought guidance from my lecturer and researched extensively through online videos.

Unlike powdered fabric dye, natural dyeing requires more time and effort to achieve the desired color tone. This process involves careful experimentation and patience to ensure the best results.

I conducted market research to gain a better understanding of different fabrics and determine which ones are most suitable for natural dyeing.

In addition to fabric compatibility, I also compared the quality and price points to make informed decisions for my project.

After completing the toile, I noticed some mistakes that needed correction, so I made the necessary adjustments to ensure it matched the technical drawing accurately.
